Sclerotherapy:

Treatment performed by physician only. Sclerotherapy is a micro-injection technique in which a concentrated saline solution is injected into the undesired tiny blood vessels using an extremely small needle. This dries out the cells that line the blood vessels with scar tissue so they cease to carry blood and therefore no longer visible. The appearance of the vessels may continue to improve for up to one or two months after the treatment. You will be reschedule for an evaluation one month after your treatment. Each injection will cause a brief stinging sensation. Bandages will be applied to each injection site and you will be asked to purchase and wear compression stockings to maintain pressure on the treated veins. Although each patient is different, most patients will need 2 to 3 treatments (separated by at least a month). The goal is to produce about 75% improvement. Between treatments, you are free to carry on your normal activities. You should keep the bandages on your legs dry and in place until the next morning. At that time you may bathe and remove the bandages. Wear your compression stockings the first night, then during the day only for the next 1-2 weeks. You should walk at least 30 minutes a day, starting the day of the procedure, for at least a week. Avoid heavy lifting, high-impact exercise and weight machines for your legs for the first week.

Sclerotherapy is the gold standard in treating unwanted veins but the Candela GentleYAG laser is very effective in treating the purple or blue veins too small to be treated by sclerotherapy. The most effective treatment for undesirable veins includes the use of the laser in conjunction with sclerotherapy.

A non-surgical, non-invasive process that offers safe and controlled skin abrasion. This procedure utilizes micro-crystals of a high medical grade, which are propelled at a high speed across the skin’s surface to abrade the skin’s tissue. Restylane:

Restylane is indicated for mid-to-deep dermal implantation for the correction of moderate to sever facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. RESTYLANE is a crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on a natural substance, called hyaluronic acid. The gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous and produces a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe to your skin. Immediately after the treatment, you can expect a slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection. The discomfort is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. When it comes to lip augmentation, the swelling may last longer. Some patients experience swelling for about a week. One of the great advantages of RESTYLANE is that it is long-lasting, but not permanent. Unlike permanent treatments or implants, RESTYLANE always leaves you with the option of re-evaluating your needs when the initial effect has worn off. With RESTYLANE, you will always have the option of continuing or changing the combination of treatments. A follow-up can be performed at any time you like after the previous treatment. As RESTYLANE is a totally non-animal product, there is no risk of eliciting allergic reactions if you are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs. Unlike some other injectable products for wrinkle treatment and lip enhancement (for example collagen made from cow hide and hyaluronic acid made from rooster combs), RESTYLANE is a totally non-animal product. This means that there is no risk of transmitting disease or eliciting allergic reactions if you are sensitive to common foods, such as beef, chicken and eggs.

Radiance:

Radiance, like Restylane is considered a cosmetic filler. If you are interested in lip augmentation and facial contouring, but you would like something that lasts longer than 6 months and less than forever, then Radiance may be for you. Radiance is a biocompatible product, which consists of calcium hydroxyapatate microspheres in a gel carrier. Radiance injections last anywhere from 2-5 years. Radiance does not require skin testing because it is the same mineral component as bone and teeth. Typically, the patient who has never had their lips augmented before might opt for something less permanent like Restylane (hyaluronic acid). For those who are confident of the look they want, then Radiance may be just the ticket. The procedure is done in the office with local anesthesia and takes about 15 minutes. Down time is minimal and the patient can look good in 24 to 36 hours.

BOTOX® Cosmetic - BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein, administered in a simple, non-surgical procedure, that will temporarily improve the appearance of some facial wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic is also effective in stopping axillary hyperhidrosis (armpit sweating) in people 18 to 65 years of age. Chemical peels are acidic solutions applied to your face to smooth the surface of your skin, improve your skin tone and color, diminish wrinkles and shrink blood vessels and pore size. The effects can be as strong as some lasers. Peel solutions typically contain one of the following exfoliating agents, in order of potency: alpha hydroxyl acid (glycolic acid), beta hydroxyl acid (salicylic acid), tricholoracetic acid (TCA) or a phenol.

Alpha Hydroxy Peels (AHA)

Although alpha hydroxy peels are offered over the counter they do not posses the same concentration levels as those available to plastic surgeons. This peel works by causing several of the top layers of skin to dry up and to peel off over a period of several days. When the old layer has peeled off, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin which has a smoother texture and more even color. AHA peels can be of many different depths. It can be very superficial, causing some flaking of the skin for 1-2 days, or they can be deeper, taking up to 7-8 days to heal. The more superficial peels can normally be performed without having to miss any time from work but because they are lighter, they usually require a series of several peels in order to achieve the best results. AHA peels are usually recommended on those who want little to no down time and because AHA peels usually do not permanently lighten the skin they are recommended for darker skin patients.

Beta Hydroxy Peels (BHA)

ACPS offer the BioMedic MicroPeel® Plus which uses Salicylic acid, a beta hydroxyl acid, to slogh off dead cells and debris while stimulating the skin’s natural renewal processes. The BioMedic MicroPeel® was designed for patients who want to refine skin texture damaged by environmental factors and skin conditions such as acne. This treatment is offered in two concentrations allowing you to tailor your treatment to fit your skin type and long-term goals. Depending on the concentration used you may or may not experience some peeling. If peeling occurs, it usually begins 2-4 days following your treatment and lasts for approximately three days. Like our AHA peels, this is a lighter peel that usually requires a series of treatments two to six weeks apart, depending on skin type. The advantage of the BioMedic MicroPeel® Plus is the extensive research done by La-Roche-Posay to develop additional products for Long Term Maintenance of your investment.

Obagi Blue Peel – The Obagi Blue Peel is a far more aggressive peel than either the Alpha Hydroxy or the Beta Hydroxy. It is a one to four step application of blue solution mixed with TCA (Trichloracetic Acid). These applications will lead to the removal of thin surface layers of aged and damaged skin. Layers of dead skin cell exfoliate and are replaced by healthier ones allowing the skin’s own clarity and tightness to resurface. The Obagi Blue Peel is indicated for anyone with blemish-prone skin, wrinkles, pigmentation problems, sun damage, general poor skin quality or those who wants to reverse the appearance of the aging process. Unlike Alpha & Beta Hydroxy peels, the OBAGI Blue Peel uses a slow-acting TCA (trichloroacetic acid) solution applied to the skin to remove dead skin cells and stimulate the production of new skin cells. Since TCA is not absorbed through the skin, there are no internal toxic effects. The slow action of the OBAGI Blue Peel solution enables your doctor or qualified technician to control the peel process and its depth. It tightens the skin, reduces wrinkling and renews a more youthful appearance. The OBAGI Blue Peel is safe for all skin colors and thickness. What you should expect: This is a one time application not a series of treatments. You may experience a mild burning sensation that lasts 2 to 3 minutes. This sensation is not so strong that sedation is indicated but if you know you have a low pain tolerance please discuss this with you technician. After the peel has been washed off a bluish tint remains on your skin: it will usually wash off in 12 to 24 hours. Your skin will begin to peel within 2 to 3 days and should be healed in an average of 7 to 10 days. This peeling should not disrupt your regular lifestyle.

TCA Peel – The deepest peel and is only done by a doctor and is not part of ancillary. TCA = Trichloracetic Acid. Removes top layer of skin allowing healthier underlayer to come to the surface.
